LAHORE: On the eve of 548th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, Pakistan government has announced opening of several religious places of Sikh community and laying foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University.
Evacuee Trust propert Board (ETPB)chairman Siddiqul Farooq,Pakistan Sikh Gurudawara Parbandhak Committee president Sardar Tara Singh and other senior ETPB officials warmly recieved around 3000 yatrees(pilgrims) at wagha railway station as they came for the anniversary of founder of sikh religion Baba Guru Nanak Dev Jee On Tuesday.
The chairman said the Pakistani government was serving the Sikh guests entirely on humanatarian basis,keeping aside the tension between the two countries.He urged the Indian President & PrimeMinister to resolve all issues between India & Pakistan through dialogue so that the people of the region could be taken out of the problems.
He said that a propoganda is made in India about Pakistan that the law and order situation of the country is not good here but Sikh community know it well that Pakistan is a peaceful country.
The ETPB chairman said that Pakistan was presenting four gifts to the sikh community on the birth anniversary of the sikh founder.
He informed that Gurudawara Sri Kiyara at Nankana Sahib is being opened for the yatrees,which was earlier closed for several years,while stone laying ceremony of monument of Bhai Mardana a close companion of Guru Nanak Sahib was held on Sunday (yesterday)
He also announced the inaugration of of Angetha Sahib at Darbar Sahib Katarpur on November 19th and stone laying ceremony of Baba Guru Nanak University to be held next year in January.
The Government of Pakistan made foolproof security arrangements besides immigration,customs,banks,medical facilities at the wahga railway station to facilitate the pilgrims.
Soon after the arrival, the yatrees left for Gurudawara Sahib Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib from where the yatrees went to Sacha Soda Farooqabad.Main ceremonies of Baba Guru Nanak Dev jees birth anniversary will be today
Sikh pilgrims would leave for Gurudawara Panja Sahib at Hassan Abdal,on November 15th and would return for Gurudawara Dera Sahib on November 17th.During their stay at Lahore the yatrees will visit Gurudawara Darbar Sahib Katarpur Narowal and Gurudawara Rohri Sahib Aimanabad.
The Sikh yatrees will return to their homeland on November 21st through wahga.
