Pakistan Beats India To Win Kabaddi Gold Medal

At a time when tension between Pakistan and India is at an alarming high and the public of both sides are behaving as warriors on social media. This news came as a breath of fresh air for Pakistanis when Pakistan beat its arch rival India 30-28 to win a Gold Medal in Kabaddi at the fifth Asian Beach Games in Vietnam yesterday.

The Asian Beach Games (ABG) is a multi-sport event which is held every two years among athletes from several Asian countries. . The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia. According to Pakistan Olympic Association, “Pakistani players demonstrated high quality kabaddi in the closing part of a thrilling encounter to outshine their opponents in all departments of the game to carve out a hard earned win.”
Since the first Asian Beach Games Tournament held in Indonesia, Pakistan had continuously been the Runner-Up against India (2008 and 2010) and Iran ( 2012 and 2014). This year our country finally beat India to win the title of Beach Kabbadi Champion for the first time. Pakistan reached this title against eleven other competing nations which included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malyasia, Nepal, Oman, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Pakistan Kabbadi Federation (PKF) Mohammad Sarwar praised Pakistani Kabbadi players for exhibiting strength and stamina against far more experienced players. Previously also in May 2016, Pakistan had defeated India in the Asian Kabaddi Cup final held at the Pakistan Ordinance Factory Sports Complex in Wah.

When it comes to Kabaddi, Pakistani players are making the nation proud and we wish them good luck to bring more such laurels to the nation.
