I daily read numerous stories of students who made us proud by achieving highest positions not only nationally but internationally. Such news always bring so many questions in my mind, off course I feel proud and happy for them but have you ever thought that where such talented kids end up? Do we have enough platforms to polish their skills? Is our education ministry doing anything for them?
Well we do focus on child education but when the same child gets done with his education does he get a job too? I doubt it I have seen many talented and educated people ending up working as clerks, peons and taxi drivers due to lack of opportunities. Off course they had their dreams too, but when you have a family to feed you do not have any choice left. Not everyone is lucky or filthy enough to go abroad and find a job. Most people do not have such options and settles down with a broken heart and dreams for a less qualified and low paid jobs.
The funniest part is besides securing the highest position in the relevant field in our country we still need money or influence to buy a job. Is there no job opportunity in the market? But what is with so many job opening advertisements we see daily in the newspaper? Who gets hired at those positions? Well you can only if you have money and influence that is the whole point.
A Master’s degree holder would force to start a job at 20k per month working his ass off for 9am to 8pm, what for because the poor soul lacked experience and a foreign degree? The time, money and efforts he has invested in his education obviously has no match with the job he gets at the end of the day.
Youth under employment and unemployment is a rising issue in Pakistan. Unless the government will do some planning in expanding the job market and creating platforms for the fresh graduates, the high achievers will be forced to feed their families by selling their gold medals or working at the positions they do not deserve.
