A custodian of a shrine in Sargodha murdered at least 20 disciples including three women in a brazen assault on late Saturday night
According to the details,the incident took place inside the sufi saint shrine of Mohammad Ali Gujjar,where a custodian allegedly drugged his disciples and later killed them with knives and batons.
The motive for the slaughter is still unclear but some officials said that the chief suspect named Abdul Waheed had mental health problem and had been violent on followers before as well.
“The suspect appears to be paranoid and psychotic, or it could be related to rivalry for the control of shrine” regional police chief Zulfiqar Hameed said.
The victims belonged to different districts of Punjab.Three of the injured victims managed to flee from the scene and arrived at General Headquarters Hospital and they subsequently informed the police about this brazen attack.Other sources informed that Waheed is an employee of Election Commision Sargodha,the suspects have been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has directed Auqaf & Religious Affairs Minister Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri to reach the crime scene.
